FAQS

Your Questions Answered

How does counseling work?

We use a blend of practices and theories from both psychology and social work.  We believe you are the expert on your life and situation, we are just here to help you realize the strengths you already have.  The inventions we use can help individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders to name a few.

Sessions are conducted virtually via a HIPPA compliant platform.  Sessions are 50 minutes.

What happens during the first counseling session?

You can think of the first counseling session as a "get to know you" meeting.  We'll ask you questions about what brought you to counseling, what your goals for counseling are, and together, we'll determine the best plan to meet those goals.  We'll also do a mental health assessment to ensure we have the full picture of what your concerns are and how best to help you through them.

How often will I need to come to counseling?

We have found that meeting weekly improves my clients’ progress toward their goals. For that reason, we meet with our clients weekly. We will establish a set to time to meet each week and that will be our reoccurring weekly appointment.

How long will I need to come to counseling?

There are a lot of factors that contribute to the length of counseling, so it is difficult to predict until we begin working together. Typically, clients commit to counseling for a minimum of 6 months and progress is measured monthly.

How much do sessions cost?

Our fee is $225 for each 50-minute session.

Are sessions covered by my insurance?

We currently accept BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina and Medcost insurance.  It will depend on the specifics of your individual plan whether counseling sessions will be covered.  You will need to contact your insurance company directly if you are unsure whether counseling is covered.

How do I seek reimbursement from my insurance company?

If you have insurance other than BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina or Medcost, you can seek reimbursement for your sessions from them.  We can provide you with a super-bill to submit to your insurance company for services provided.

Do you have any specialties?

We specialize in working with young professionals struggling with anxiety.  Whether you are having trouble working through a specific situation, or you've been dealing with these kind of emotions for years, we're here to help you.

GOOD TO KNOW...

  •  If you use insurance, your therapist must provide your insurance company with information regarding diagnosis, the services being provided and the treatment you receive.  This information becomes part of your permanent medical record and, in some cases may be considered a pre-existing condition for insurance purposes.

  • If you pay out of pocket, you may still be able to receive reimbursement from your insurance company with a super-bill.
