Hello, I'm Takiara

As a therapist in Durham, North Carolina, I help young adults who are overwhelmed by the demands of life learn to prioritize what's important, stop wasting energy on what's not and begin to create a life that’s balanced and happy. While working with me in therapy, you will start to see changes not only in how you manage your emotions, but also begin to see improvement in your relationships and feel more self-love.

Therapy With Me

Wondering what will be expected of you? Just a commitment to try. Is it really safe for you to just be yourself with me? Absolutely; there's no judgment here. Will there be homework? Yes; this is the fastest way to get results. The homework assignments I give will help reinforce what we work on in sessions. Before you know it, you'll be reaching for positive coping tools without having to give it much thought. It will help you reach your goals as soon as possible. It's important not to take ourselves too seriously, so jokes and laughter will often join our sessions. You can rest assured knowing you can always be yourself with me.


I’ve spent my career working with young adult clients that are struggling with big life changes and feel lost on how to move forward. Life doesn't come with an instruction manual, but I have the experience required to help you figure it out. I believe in finding what works best for YOU and helping to guide you to what makes the most sense for your life. We'll dive deep to figure out what you need most mentally and emotionally and create a plan for how to reach those goals. You deserve to be the best version of yourself and it's my job to help you get there.


We’ll meet weekly and then adjust as needed to make sure you get the best results as quickly as possible.  I keep a small caseload, so my clients can take comfort in knowing I'll always have time for them when they need it most.  We'll work together to come up with a plan specific to your needs and I'll help you create a self-care plan that works best for your lifestyle. I understand the decision to seek therapy is a big deal, but I’m here to help you every step of the way. Together we can find ways to build more confidence, self-love and positive coping skills, so you can live your best life!
